Mauro Guarinieri - connect drug users to society

Mauro is a well-known Italian AIDS activist who previously worked as a chair of GNP+, an advocate group, and recently works for the International Harm Reduction Development Program of the Open Society Institute. He is a former injecting drug user and he lives with HIV/AIDS.He was interviewed by our crew at the International Conference on the Drug Related Harms in Warsaw, 2007.

Get a penalty for doing your job!

Budai Gyula is a public employee in Ózd (town in Hungary). His job is to keep the recycling bins in order. He received a penalty for 10.000 HUF for scavenging, while he was doing his job. He acted correctly by not acknowledging his supposed offence by his signature. If he had done so, he could not argue against the decision. Do not sign anything if you have not committed what you’re being charged for!

Bijay Pandey is a drug user activist from Nepal, a member of the International Network of People Who Use Drugs (INPUD, www.inpud.org) his group operates a syringe exchange program which is not officially supported by the government. He emphasizes the importance of media advocacy for user groups.
